Intro to beekeeping: class
Have you been curious about beekeeping but didn’t know where to start or where to learn? If you’re looking to start your own apiary or just want to experience the fun of beekeeping and learn the basics, this class is perfect for you!
As part of this class we will talk about some basics of beekeeping, including the honeybee lifecycle, how bees make honey, how to monitor and care for a hive, and how to harvest honey. We’ll dive into a hive to take a look at the honeycomb, general health of the hive, and the brood chamber (we’ll try and spot the queen!).
You will be provided with a full body bee suit and veil and all tools necessary for inspecting the hive. You are required to wear / bring close toed shoes with long socks.
The goal of the class is to teach you everything you would need to know to get started with your own apiary. Class sizes are limited to two (2) people and should take about one (1) hour. You can add one additional person to the class for just $15.
Please note:
This class is not intended for intermediate or advanced beekeepers. It will not cover any advanced hive issues or queen rearing.
You will be provided with a link during checkout to view available class times and schedule a time that works best for you. If you’d like to see the available times before checkout, please use this link.
The class is subject to weather conditions; we can’t go through the hive if it is raining, windy, or after sunset. If the weather does not cooperate for your scheduled class time, I will work with you to reschedule.
